WEEK 1 UPDATE

John and I would like to thank everyone who has helped during our first week of preparing the shed for our new roof. During the five-day period a little over 1500-man hours have been clocked up, including elevenses during which time we paused and reflected on progress and the way ahead.

The area under the canopy was cleared completely, hard wood only being retained. Each working area has been treated likewise; we now have an adequate assortment of hard woods to last the next ‘x’ years. Additional surplus tools etc have been sorted, checked and disposed of as applicable.

The most important activity was the removal of the ceilings, insulation materials and checking the electrical wiring. With the exception of 2 sq. mtrs everything was completed on Friday. We all ran out of puff and retired early at 1230.

Once the insulation materials had been removed it was very evident that certain areas of the roof were in a poor state, damp and delamination.

Electrical work has a few interesting rework issues but nothing major. Mostly re wiring the new led lighting without chocolate blocks!

The big push next week will be to dispose of all the ceiling and insulation materials so we can all share a BBQ on Friday.

The canopy will be the last item to be cleared.

Well, ‘Shedders’ a big thank you once again and look forward to your company in week 2.

Pete & John.
