We had a near record number of members at last months BBQ and it certainly appeared everyone enjoyed a burger or sausage and a good natter. The photo shows all those at the August BBQ except John Skerratt who took the photo, but it also shows some of the roofing that will have to be removed before the roofing contractors begin work. As you will know, we already have the materials to replace the old lean too. So you can see we all have an ambitious programme ahead of us that will need everyone’s support. Who can spot Paul Turner?

3. WMS were commissioned to make a noticeboard for Deverell Hall Widley. The project was headed by Dave Sy and assisted by Paul Turner, John Skerratt, Phil Griffiths, Tony Smith and Tony Farnes. Thanks also to Roy Goring for the wood engraving. Dave said members were a big help, with others lending a hand at the right time. Dave said all help was appreciated.

4. Another personal project that was completed recently was by Hayden Davies, a squirrel’s picnic bench. A lovely little project all the more difficult due to its size. I am now expecting a photo of a pair of squirrels sitting enjoying their breakfast of muesli and fruit from Hayden. While we are talking miniatures I recently visited the New Forest Wildlife Park and found a great project just using small logs and twigs to make an adventure park and housing for field mice. They appeared to be very happy with their surroundings.

5. Gents we are slowly gaining momentum with ticket sales but we could still do more. We still need members to sign up for as little as £1:00 per ticket per week to qualify us for an application for a HBC grant.
