2. As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, we shared an evening with Berewood Women’s Institute on Wednesday 16th October. After the preparations making the component parts of the bottle bird feeders by John Skerratt, Dave Sy and John Bowden, eight WMS members loaded their cars with workmates, tools, the kits and baskets of empty wine bottles and we headed off in the rain to Berewood School. We soon had the organisation in place with four bases, constructing the components, inserting the doweling pegs and attaching the bottle restraining straps. The WI members were soon working the drills and hammers making their personal bottle feeders. In return, tea and coffee was available along with cake. Paul Turner personally ensured the cakes were up to standard by sampling each one throughout the evening! By the end of the evening, WI members were the proud owners of their own feeders. I think everyone enjoyed the evening, even if it was rather hot in the hall. This was our third joint meeting with the ladies of Berewood WI so am sure we will be returning again in a couple of years. A big thankyou to the eight trusty members who supported this unique evening with the ladies of the WI.

3. With the work on the roofing completed, progress now moves to the interior lighting in readiness for the ceiling panels to be located. Members help is still needed to assist in the final push to restore the workshop ceilings and electrics so if you have a spare couple of hours please join the work partiesHere we have photos of Pete developing his version of Luke Skywalker’s light sabre in the electrical workshop and Jim supervising John up the ladder, working on the snake’s wedding of existing wiring. Looking at the red light on Pete’s head just confirmed my suspicion that he is actually an AI bot being controlled by a console operator somewhere! The lighting that has been placed so far certainly has made a big improvement in the workshops and is also more eco efficient as you can see from the photo on the right.
